About Me
Ever since I could pick up a crayon I have been interested in the visual arts. While I was still in school I studied drawing techniques & sculpture at night in Crawford Art College (Cork). After I finished school I studied works that were primarily visual in nature, such as ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts and photography at CSN Cork.
I loved the impact and creative variety all these things had visually.
During my college applications I became very interested in Animation and the whole film making process, so I studied 2d Classical Animation for three years in DLCAD Dublin.
After graduating from college I became a visiting lecturer in DLCAD teaching story development and film editing before joining Terraglyph Productions, where I worked as an assistant animator on several animated feature films.
Throughout my animation career I worked on award winning advertisements, documentaries and short films including the Oscar Nominated ‘Give Up Yer Aul Sins’.
As an independent filmmaker I was both an animator and the producer on the international award winning short film
‘A Film From My Parish - 6 Farms’where it was selected to screen at the renowned Sundance Film Festival.
I am now based in Galway where I have had numerous works commissioned with mixed media.
I find photography a great way to capture a story in an instant that would have been overlooked or otherwise forgotten.
A photograph has the ability to convey emotion, mood, narrative, ideas and messages.
To tell a story with one image alone and to convey it in a unique way is a great challenge.
